Okevia Wilson has been deemed Atlanta’s newest “It” girl and there’s a good reason for that — she never stops! Not only is she a successful real estate agent, one of the stars on WE tv’s “Selling it in the ATL” but she is also a mother, a salon owner, a consultant for fashion and beauty brands in Atlanta as well as a self-described social butterfly.
An Atlanta native, Wilson has a banking background, but as a mother to three children she decided to drop the nine-to-five and get into selling real estate because she needed a more flexible schedule. She also sees that being a homeowner is “the American dream” and is passionate about helping people invest their money in something sound. She also loves being her own boss.
When asked how she balances all that she does with keeping her home life in order, she laughed, “pull your hair out! I have short hair for a reason. I have been fortunate enough to have a great support system with their father, which allows me to be out and about as needed with clients. But there are a lot of days when I just stop and be in mommy mode.”
She always looks amazing and very well put together no matter what, so when asked how she does it everyday she said, “I throw it all together. I’m not one of those that decides on their outfit the night before. But I do know to start with the shoe. I think about what scenario I will be in. Will I be sitting? Will I be standing? Do my feet hurt? I also consider the weather. But I start at the bottom and work my way up.”That’s good advice that I think many women who dress well follow.
But Wilson has a few other tips for us as well. Her personal motto is: “Maintain sexy at all times.” When asked to elaborate, she simply said “check the mirror. There is no excuse for not being put together and you don’t have to spend a whole lot of money to do it. Know your body type and your materials.” It’s obvious that Wilson has a passion for fashion and beauty as well as real estate. She was a freelance makeup artist for years as well as a nail technician and even did some fashion styling as a hobby for friends here and there.
“When you look good you feel good. What you have on can define how you feel that day. When you glam it up, it gives you the confidence that you can go out and conquer the world. You are exactly what people see, and when you know better, you do better.”
Okevia Wilson is doing great, to put it mildly and looking the part as well. Catch her on “Selling it in the ATL” which airs on WE tv Thursday nights 10/9c.
