Fashion stylist, Brand Consultant, and Style Correspondent, Harrison Diddy is a man who wears many hats and he wears them all extremely well. Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, he began his career by shooting street style photography which led into him dressing his friends for photo projects. This love of styling then inspired him to start a career in retail as a Visual Merchandiser.
Like many creatives, Diddy quickly realized that he is not a nine to five person. After getting some more styling experience under his belt from merchandising, he wisely utilized the contacts that he had made over the years and began freelance styling. Most successful fashion stylists usually have a moment that springboards their careers to the next level. This moment happened for Diddy when he was offered a job at NBC to do wardrobe for their daily lifestyle show, New York Live.
After gaining more experience working in television he was given the opportunity to style for Good Morning America on ABC. Since then, Diddy has continued to work in the television industry and has also gone on to dress a number of A-list celebrities. When asked about some of his biggest successes to date he humbly explained that being featured in blogs from his hometown of Memphis truly means the most to him. There’s nothing like the feeling of pride and and accomplishment when it’s received from the people who have watched you grow and get to where you are today. Also, his feature in Vogue wasn’t too shabby either.
Diddy’s unique styling aesthetic is very clean and fashion forward. He prefers to use light accessories and let the clothing tell more of the story. By the looks of it, his method of styling is definitely working because his client list is only continuing to grow. During the interview, we asked Harrison who his favorite celebrity client is that he’s worked with thus far. He happily replied, “Everyone is my favorite!” He mentioned that Chris Brown was definitely one of his most interesting clients as well. He went on to say that he had an amazing time working with the star and was surprised by how well Brown understood his own personal style and how knowledgeable he was about fashion.
Diddy is very excited about the direction his career is headed towards next. Some of his biggest inspirations are celebrity stylists like June Ambrose and Rachel Zoe who are not only talented with wardrobe but have also created personal brands out of themselves. He also mentioned that his dream career is to be a man of color representing fashion – your go to guy for what’s hot and what’s not.
Right now there is a perfect niche for that. There’s currently not enough well-known male style advisors. We feel Harrison Diddy is more than qualified for the job. For more information on Diddy please be sure to check out his website!
