Last weekend kicked off the second annual Panorama music festival in New York City. The festival is a three day music and arts celebration on Randall’s Island. This year’s lineup was not one to miss, including Frank Ocean, MGMT and Solange Knowles headlining it’s opening night.
Panorama is actually brought by the same people who put together Coachella, the festival that always gets a festival nod. Which makes complete sense after seeing the fashion from the New York City festival this weekend. In fact, there were so many different styles and looks that the east coast festival might give Coachella a run for its money. Here’s our top five:
Overalls, Coveralls, Rompers
There were a lot of festival goers who wore overalls with a classic crop top. Others took risks and went for the more embellished or bohemian styled overalls and coveralls. Extra bonus points to the guys wearing male rompers.
Honestly, our top trendsetters from the weekend were those who were not afraid to go all out. We highly suggest to push the bar for a festival. This is a rule! Think flower power meets rocker glam for this look, with embellished leather motorcycle jackets paired with sweet sequence and patched sheer dresses.
Wide Leg Pants
Brace yourself because this trend might knock off mom jeans, which we all know and love, from our closets. It seems right now in fashion we are transitioning from imitating everything that was great from the ’90s to lightly imitating everything that was great from the millenium. Low-rise pants are slowly making a comeback, but at Panorama it was the low rise and wide leg pants that stole the spotlight. Of course, the style was paired off with a cute mating crop top.
Festival Prairie Goers
Definitely more of a Coachella go to, however, those who did decide to go for this prairie girl look put their own east coast twist on it. Pair this white lace and sheer ensemble with some cool kicks and shades and you are festival ready.
Socially Conscious Tees
Last but certainly not least, of our favorite festival trends were socially conscious clothing. What makes Panorama Festival special is that its not only models and “It” girls who attend, but also political activists. Civil rights activist and Black Lives matter supporter, DeRay Mckesson, was seen at the festival. Not to mention, Frank Ocean’s tee shirt that read, “Why be racists, sexists, homophobic, or transphobic when you could just be quiet?” With everything that’s been going on in the United States and the rest of the world this is more than just a trend or style. It’s a movement.
